TCS-EIS Taining and Project : 

To start with I am a fresher I finished my training two months back and I would like to share my experience with all the people are yet to join. First of all EIS(Engineering and Industrial Services) is a common horizontal that serves every other vertical like Retail , Automation , Transport etc. You will be providing Engineering solutions to Industries . This may include designing or maintaining the industrial equipments.

ILP at Trivandrum:

Training at Trivandrum has been one the best experiences for me. Its popularly called as the honeymoon period. Trivandrum as such is a very quite place and if you are a party person, then forget it for three months cos the city is almost dead during the night. But you can all always plan trips with your ILP mates and have fun. The ILP will be like a 60 days training where you can find people from all over India. EIS groups are always considered as the elite group and they will always expect better outcome from us. The 60days training there can make you feel so stressed out cos you are going to have regular diagnostics and reviews. You really need to work hard rite from the beginning cos each and every test scores matter and also for all those joining EIS, please do not come with a mind set that you are not going to have to code. If that is your assumption then I am sorry to tell , "you are wrong" , cos the 60 days training itself will be split into half where the first 30 days you will have this incredible training on almost all possible language like C,C++,JAVA,.NET,SQL etc .The next 30 days you will have training on the main software tool like SAP, MatLab etc.. Well but if you are from Mechanical background then you will probably be mapped inside a stream called NPD(New Product Development) where you have absolutely no coding and will be working on CADD tool. Apart from the technical sessions you will also have business skills sessions and always see to that your communication skill is good . You will certainly not be able to finish your training in 60 days if you English is poor, no matter how great you are in your technical.  

After the Training :

After my training there was a 5 days gap before I joined my TCS office. Most of them were given their preferred base location. The most surprising thing was hardly anybody even knew what EIS is even inside TCS office. Now as a fresher, the moment you join office everything goes out of your hands cos the first project you get in, is gonna form the base for your carrier and its really sad to know that it is all based on your luck factor. Depending on the requirement you will be called into a project and never think that you will be working in the same software on which you were trained during your ILP . Always be prepared to learn cos you just need to keep learning forever. But the good thing here is, trainees from ILP Trivandrum are preferred than others and usually get inside good projects. Even the bench period for Trivandrum trainees will not be more than 2 months . But whatever be the project you get into, see to that you have something new to learn everyday cos most of the work inside office is so monotonous and you will hardly have anything to learn other than working on ppt and excel sheets. But no matter what, working is so much a different and great experience for the ones who get it rite ;)
